Do you find it interesting how most times we think we know what is best for ourselves? Then to our surprise the outcome is better then we could have ever imagined! Life, relationship, and career planning are supported and promoted by billion dollar industries. Buy this, go here, wear that, all to help us feel a certain way. If this sounds familiar you probably can understand the agonizing feelings that accompany them.  Especially when things do not work out as planned.  "If only I would get this perfect job" or "why doesn't it work with us anymore"……. Why do we hold on, why is it so hard to let go and trust?  These are struggles that most can relate to.  Letting go can be incredibly life changing. The letting go refers to surrendering to ones life.

Letting go, “thefreedictionary.com,” says to give permission or opportunity to; allow.  At first thought I would think letting go is to not think about something. To possibly ignore thoughts. In fact it is the opposite. The definition states it as more of a sitting with a feeling or thought without judgement.  Accepting the situation and feelings for all that they bring.

Accepting the situation and feelings as they are.  This space makes room for creativity and deeper understanding.  The alternative to not habitually reacting. When we do not react, our emotions have time to reach our limbic brain. This is where we rationally think.  There we connect with the true source of our feeling.  Sometimes the body just wants to feel our feelings completely in order to process them.

Judgement, we all do it. It is necessary for our survival. Taking care of ourselves and protecting is a natural part of being human.  When it becomes critical of yourself, situations, and others it is time to let go. Please do not mistaken that for walking away. Let go meaning, let go of how you thought things were "supposed to go" or what you thought you were there to learn. Resistance to a new experience or person could be ego scared to try or learn something new. Excitement can also feel like anxiety.

Protecting ourselves; what are we scared of? Usually it has to do with loosing something. Maybe fear of our own success. Fear of the unknown.  Whatever it is we no longer need it! There is something to be learned in trusting what we are going through. Trusting that it will bring us to a place we could never have dreamed of.  “Don’t be afraid of change, you might loose something good but you will gain something better.”(-unknown.)

Thank you for reading, you are beautiful

  1. I like it! Letting go of judgement of all emotion in order to let it travel through the body to completion. Not 'making' it ok or happy or something we 'want' or 'should' feel. Powerful.
